CrystalSCAN Parallel Crystallization Screening and Development Platform
CrystalSCAN is an automated parallel crystallization reactor system designed by H.E.L, for solubility curve determination and metastable zone width (MSZW) analysis. Equipped with proprietary CrystalEYES probes, it enables real-time detection of dissolution and nucleation events across multiple reactors. Its compact and high-throughput design supports efficient crystallization screening and process optimization.

Automated Crystallization Screening
CrystalSCAN is a high-throughput crystallization platform typically configured with eight independently controlled reactors, allowing multiple conditions to be evaluated in parallel within a single streamlined run. It is ideal for crystallization screening, solubility studies, and process optimization.
Real-Time Crystallization Monitoring
Each reactor is equipped with CrystalEYES crystallization monitoring technology, enabling accurate, real-time detection of dissolution and nucleation events for precise determination of solubility curves and metastable zone width. Using a Near-Infrared (NIR) source and proprietary turbidity sensors integrated with WinISO Control software, results are displayed graphically in real-time for immediate interpretation. Probes are constructed in hard-wearing Hastelloy for excellent chemical compatibility and, at just 5 mm in diameter, are suitable for use with the smallest of vessels.
Integrated Automation and Control
CrystalSCAN features automated control of stirring, heating, cooling, and liquid dosing through integrated syringe pumps, ensuring consistent and repeatable experimental conditions. Each reactor has its own independent temperature sensor and controller, enabling individual setup across a temperature range of over 100°C.
High Throughput and Efficiency
Running multiple independent experiments simultaneously, CrystalSCAN significantly increases productivity and reduces development time. Automated generation of solubility curves and MSZW data reduces the need for offline analysis, while experimental conditions can be modified at any time, even during active steps.

Agitation Options
- Magnetic Stirring: Traditional stirring with magnetic bars (fleas), suitable for small vessels or vials. Larger suspended stirrers are ideal for slurries, typically in vessels above 75 ml when used with the PolyBLOCK 4.
- Suspended Mechanical Stirring: Effective mixing of liquids and suspensions, especially with larger vessels on the PolyBLOCK 4.
- Overhead Stirring: Available as a modular option with either high-speed or high-torque motors to suit application requirements.

- Vials and Tubes: Agitated with magnetic fleas or suspended stirrers
- Flat-Bottom Round Flasks: Suspended mechanical stirring; multiport PTFE lids; volumes between 5 ml and 250 ml
