Chris is a biopharma professional with over 36 years' experience in the industry. His expertise ranges from recombinant proteins and vaccines as well as flu vaccines in embryonic eggs, monoclonal antibodies and hormones such as EPO and rhGH.
Behind the First Biotech Facility in Southeast Asia
He was part of the team that built the first biotech facility in Southeast Asia, at Science Park II in Singapore. He has extensive knowledge of start-ups and recently was the Associate Director at Kalbio Global Medika, a subsidiary of Kalbe Pharma, in Jakarta, Indonesia. In this project Chris designed, project managed and started up this facility, including selecting and training the staff. The project was completed 4% under budget and has passed local, EU and TGA GMP audits.
This facility won several international awards for its novel design, including an Honorable Mention in the ISPE Facility of the Year Awards in 2017. Chris puts the success of this facility down to his technical, man management and team building skills. Chris also has a deep knowledge of the regulations and quality issues in manufacturing biopharma and pharma products.
In 2004 he was the EU-GMP Expert for ASEAN, where he trained the ASEAN Health Authorities in PIC/S GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). The authorities included The Thai FDA, Philippines FDA and BPOM in Indonesia. At present, Chris is providing consultancy services to companies in Southeast Asia, ranging from such diverse topics as Covid vaccines, ATMP drugs, fill & finish facilities, bioreactor processing, downstream processing, validation and GMP compliance.
