Dom Hebrault, Ph.D., is an independent consultant operating through TechGateUS LLC , specializing in process analytical technology (PAT), crystallization engineering, and flow chemistry for pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing.
With over 25 years as a subject matter expert in PAT, automation, and flow chemistry, Dom built deep application experience at Mettler-Toledo AutoChem, advising manufacturers and laboratories on in-line and at-line reaction and crystallization monitoring using Raman spectroscopy, FBRM, DSC, and XRPD. This was paired with hands-on process development and scale-up roles at Veranova and Boehringer Ingelheim , where PAT tools were applied directly to solve production-scale problems.
Crystallization in Microgravity
Most recently, Dom has applied this PAT expertise to a new frontier: therapeutic crystallization in microgravity aboard the International Space Station. Through an independent consulting engagement with Redwire Space, he supports the PIL-BOX SMALS program, using in situ video microscopy and Raman spectroscopy to characterize crystal nucleation and growth under microgravity conditions — work with direct relevance to improving crystal quality and process understanding for therapeutics on Earth.
Today, Dom leads process technology development at a specialty pharmaceutical CDMO while consulting independently on PAT implementation, solid-form characterization, and DOE-based process optimization. He works with manufacturers, laboratories, and industrial operators who need to get more out of their analytical and automation investments, particularly in crystallization, reaction monitoring, and small-molecule API development, and brings a 25+ year professional network across the pharmaceutical industry.
